Treat Family and Friends to a Harvest Party
  • October is one of the most beautiful months of the year, so why not celebrate with a harvest party? Enjoy the wonder of the season with these festive and fun ideas for hosting a simple gathering or creating a memorable family day.

    Fall Treats

No autumn party is complete without warm apple cider and caramel apples. Other options for fall finger foods include caramel-corn balls, and pumpkin cookies garnished with candy corn. Somehow they seem to taste even better when you use a pumpkin or leaf-shaped cookie cutter. Set out candy corn in decorative bowls and place throughout the party area to top off your treat display.

    Autumn Adornments

The colors of fall open the door for beautiful, natural decorating. Let Mother Nature provide the inspiration. Some simple suggestions include using colorful leaves, bittersweet, acorns and pinecones in vases or spread out in tabletop arrangements. Pumpkins and squash also make for classic autumn adornments. When weather permits, host your harvest party outdoors where fall foliage can amplify your decorating efforts.

    Craft Corner

Set up a craft corner where guests, especially the young ones, can partake or peruse. Possible craft ideas for your party could include:

Fall bouquet: Assemble an assortment of fall leaves, pinecones and gourds. Then let your guests arrange colorful fall bouquets — perfect for a table centerpiece.

Gourd painting: You provide the supplies, and let the kids use their imaginations to turn autumn gourds into works of art.

Leaf prints: Have party-goers paint one side of a fall leaf and press (painted-side down) onto a blank piece of paper. Or cover leaves with a piece of paper and create colorful rubbings with crayons.
