Through the Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program, PUR has supported the distribution of PUR water purification packets — an innovation that easily turns contaminated water into clean, drinkable water — to children in the developing world since 2008.

You know drinking water is good for you, but did you know the water you sip each day can be good for others, too?
Just by redeeming a coupon, you can help provide clean water to a child in the developing world. And by using PUR® water filtration products, you can give your own family clean drinking water to help stay hydrated and healthy.

Give Water; Give Health
Today, more than 1 billion people do not have access to safe water. Many people are forced to drink directly from contaminated rivers, wells and streams filled with bacteria, parasites and viruses. Simply providing safe, clean water can reduce deadly diarrhea, cholera and typhoid fever by about 50%.
And every day, more than 4,000 children in developing countries die just because they don’t have clean drinking water. This is greater than the number of children who die from HIV/AIDS and malaria combined.
How Can You Help?
For every coupon you redeem from the June 2011 P&GbrandSAVER® coupon booklet,* P&G will give 2¢ to the Children’s Safe Drinking Water Fund. The P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program provides clean water using PUR water purification technology. The powder in a PUR packet quickly turns 10 liters of dirty and potentially deadly water into clean water. So one coupon redeemed means one day of clean drinking water for a child in a developing country. Visit www.csdw.org for more information.
To date, the Children's Safe Drinking Water program has delivered 2 billion liters of clean drinking water, and the program is committed to delivering 4 billion liters by 2012.
Keeping Healthy at Home
At home, every sip of water makes a difference — for your body. The human body literally thrives on water, which makes up about 60% of our weight. Every body system and function needs water to work properly, from the circulatory system as it brings oxygen to our cells, to our vital organs as they’re flushed clean of toxins.
Because water is key to health, when you don’t have enough, your body starts to suffer. Dehydration can wreak all kinds of havoc, even when it’s a mild case. Ever feel a little sluggish and tired, and you’re not sure why? That could be dehydration. Do you notice you’re thirsty fairly often? That's another sign your body is lacking enough water. Other dehydration indicators include dry lips and mouth, rapid heartbeat, and feeling lightheaded or dizzy.
One way you can encourage yourself and everyone in your home to drink more water is to use a filtration product, such as PUR Water Filters. A quality filtration system reduces contaminants such as lead from your tap water, giving you clean, healthy water.
* For each PUR system purchase, PUR will donate 10¢ to the Children's Safe Drinking Water Fund. For additional program details, please visit www.purwater.com or www.csdw.org.
