Creative Crafts for Mother’s Day

A handmade gift from a child is one of the most appreciated Mother’s Day gifts. Check out these instructions for children to create simple, one-of-a-kind gifts sure to touch the hearts of the moms who receive them.
Chocolate Spoon Bouquet

What you need:
  • White chocolate
  • Milk chocolate
  • Heavy plastic spoons
  • Wax paper
  • Chocolate sprinkles
  • Colored sugar
  • Plastic wrap
  • Ribbons
  • Decorative mug
  • Gift tags
  • Bounty® paper towels
How to make it:
  • In the microwave, melt half of the white chocolate in one bowl and half of the milk chocolate in another bowl.
  • Dip half of the spoons in white chocolate and dip the other half of the spoons in milk chocolate. Dip them as far as the base of the spoon's bowl. Place them on waxed paper and let them set completely.
  • When the chocolate is set, dip the white chocolate spoons in milk chocolate, and dip the milk chocolate spoons in white chocolate. Dip them only halfway up the bowl of the spoon to create a layered effect. Place them back on the waxed paper to begin setting.
  • Let the chocolate set only partially (for about five minutes). Then, gently dip the spoons in chocolate sprinkles or colored sugar. Allow them to set completely.
  • Wrap each spoon in plastic wrap and tie them with ribbons.
  • Fan the spoons and tuck handle-end-down into the mug.
  • Tie gift tags to the handles of the mug.
  • For cleanup, try Bounty paper towels. They have the strength, absorbency and cloth-like durability to clean the mess with less.*

Mother’s Day Heart

What you need:
  • Newspaper
  • Marker
  • Scissors
  • Masking tape
  • Felt
  • Glue
  • Ribbon
  • Small candies or gifts
How to make it:
  • Make a pattern by drawing a heart shape on newspaper with the colored marker. Cut out the pattern and tape it onto a doubled piece of felt. Using fabric scissors, cut around the pattern and through the felt. Supervise your child or do this step for her. You can create a zigzag edge by cutting with pinking shears.
  • On one of the felt cutouts, apply a line of glue 1/4 inch from the edge along both sides and around the bottom, but not across the top. Lay the second cutout on top of the first, so that the edges match up. Then, set a heavy book on top of them to make the seams stick.
  • Make a hanger for the heart by tying a loop in a piece of ribbon or a strip of felt and gluing the knot to the back of the felt.
  • Personalize the heart with the recipient in mind. Tuck small candies or gifts inside.
