Sometime this summer, you may find yourself playing hostess. You might have family visiting your home from out of town or you could have friends coming to stay at the cottage. It might be a planned event or it could be a complete surprise. Whatever the case, when people arrive at your door with luggage, there are a few tricks to ensuring their stay is pleasant for everyone involved.
The Accommodation

At the very least, guests need a bed and something to fill their bellies. Aside from these basic necessities, however, you'll find that adding a few extra amenities will help you and your visitors feel more comfortable and relaxed.

Make your guest room welcoming. A bedside light to read by, an extra blanket at the end of the bed and extra pillows will ensure your guests can make themselves comfortable. |

Scented guest soaps are not only perfect for the powder room, but they also work wonders in the guest room. Slip them in empty drawers and closets, and they'll keep your unused bureaus or cupboards fresh until visitors arrive. |

Remember what they may have forgotten. Robes, toothbrushes and slippers often don't make it into the suitcase. Having extras on hand is a handy hostess tip. |

Add a few thoughtful touches. A few best-selling paperbacks, a selection of magazines and a water carafe and drinking glass make a guest room feel homier. |

Store a set of guest towels in your guest room. It's a simple trick that stops your visitors from having to ask or hunt for what they need. Tuck a sheet of Bounce® with Febreze Fresh Scent between them for an extra boost of fresh scent. |

Consider a night-light for the bathroom. It will help them find their destination in the dark. |
