You might already know to pack your lunch or skip expensive runs to the coffee store. Here are some new ideas for making savings easy — and even fun.
1. Read Up for Less
You don't have to spend a lot of money to get your hands on the latest reading. Here are some ideas:
- Try a book swap with friends.
- Look for free downloads of books online.
- Share magazines with coworkers.
- Subscribe to RSS feeds on your iGoogle™ pages.
- Check out all of the options your local library has to offer.
2. Entertain Efficiently
Consider having friends over for dinner rather than meeting out. Hand out assignments for appetizers, salads, breads and desserts. If you do go out, look for restaurants where you can bring in your own beverages to cut down the bill. Learn to make your favorite restaurant dishes at home. When your friends are at your house, suggest that you save on teacher and coach gifts by pooling giving with each other.
3. Never Pay Retail
Before making an online purchase, search for coupon and promotional code-sharing sites. If you are already on a purchase window, open a new window and search for the store name and “coupon code” to find current offers.
Here are three easy ways to save money on your favorite P&G brands:
1. P&GbrandSAMPLER® is a one-stop source for samples and coupons from P&G. Visit www.pgbrandsampler.com to register.
2. P&GbrandSAVER® is a coupon booklet in most local Sunday newspapers that provides valuable savings on P&G products in one convenient place. Find a local newspaper that carries the P&GbrandSAVER coupon booklet.
3. P&GeSAVER® offers electronic coupons that can be added to your grocery-store loyalty card. The coupons automatically apply at checkout when you buy qualifying items. Find out if your grocery store participates with P&GeSAVER.*

4. Shop the Fashion Seasons
The best markdowns occur at the end of the seasons, late September and January. Be prepared to hold on to your bargains until the following year when they will be back in season. Sign up for mailing lists to receive coupons and circulars to save even more.
5. Join Online Communities of Savers
Look for online groups of other like-minded people. These users often share their best finds and great ideas for saving. You also can check out blogs about saving money to get more fresh ideas. Mom-focused online communities are often great resources.
6. Save on Gifts
Watch clearance racks for note cards, candles, scented soaps and other timeless gift items. Stock up when you find sales. Wrap your gifts with a single ribbon before you tuck them away and you’ll always be ready to go.
If your children regularly get invited to parties, consider stocking up on your favorite games or toys when you see them on sale. Also, if you find a great item on clearance, purchase several to store away for gifts.
