Your kids have been out of school all summer, and life can be hectic. Before they head back to the classroom, you owe it to yourself to enjoy a relaxing summer weekend just for you. Here are some great ideas for planning your own mini-vacation.

1. Take a Cabin Retreat
Call a nearby state park or other wilderness area and inquire about renting a cabin. Accommodations typically are moderate in price, and you can spend the weekend taking quiet walks, curling up with a good book or writing in your journal. For a little extra pampering (at extra cost), ask for a cabin with a hot tub or whirlpool bath.
2. Go on a Ladies' Spa Escape
If you're up for a splurge, book yourself and two or three of your best friends at a full-service resort and spa. You can catch up on each others' lives by the pool and treat yourself to everything from facials to deluxe massages. Ask about special package discounts for bundling several services together.
3. Treat Yourself Like a Queen at Home
Sometimes all you really need is a little peace and quiet in your own home. Send your husband and children to visit the in-laws while you stay behind. You can enjoy all of those things you wish you could spend time on but that never seem to reach the top of your to-do list, such as scrapbooking or gardening.
4. Enjoy Potluck Travels
Reclaim your spirit of adventure by picking your travel destination at the last minute. There's nothing like the sights and sounds of a new place to refresh your spirit.
