The Cassia Essence

A close relative of cinnamon, cassia is a plant native to China, Bangladesh, India and Vietnam. Its bark and buds are used as a spice, especially in India.

Model, actress and Indian-American cookbook author Padma Lakshmi has spent a lot of money and time on hair-care products. "Hair is a huge deal for Indian women and my hair has always played a big role in my life," says Lakshmi. "I grew up with beautiful cassia flowers all around me, and even as a chef, I've used cassia seeds in recipes much like I would use cinnamon."

"It was the discovery of the cassia plant's protecting and strengthening qualities that inspired the development of Nature Fusion," says Thomas. "The gum powder produced from the cassia seed is where those conditioning properties lie. We used a scientific process to add positive charges along the length of the polymer."
